…I hate color.  My brilliant idea was to stay up late painting Loki french kissing a snake, but my real media skills are in the toilet, so I took a photograph of my painting and painted over it digitally.  Sadly, my digital-painting skills are also in the toilet.  I wanted this to be all cool and unique-looking, but instead I worry it just looks like every other fanart on the internet.  NEXT TIME I’LL STICK TO BLACK AND WHITE.  T^T

i was working on that sebastian redesign that i posted a little while ago when i suddenly wondered if starkhaven—or even more specifically, the vael family—had some sort of family crest or symbol, like the amells.  searching the internet brought up almost nothing, so i went digging through the DAII game assets.

turns out there is a starkhaven crest.  and a whole bunch of others i’ve never seen before.  so i decided to take the raw files and do something useful with them.

these symbols were taken directly from the DAII game art assets folder.  most likely these are not all the symbols that show up in the game, but i don’t have access to the legacy and mark of the assassin DLC assets since those files are encrypted.  a number of these are also probably not official (canonically) either.  my guess is that some of them were concepts that later got changed/refined or just scrapped.  they’re still fairly interesting to look at though.

there are probably a number of symbols some of you may recognize (especially if you’re the diligent type to go shifting through the dragon age wiki or bioware’s blog).  i left them in there regardless, for those who may have not seen these before.

What’s your superpower?

Summer owns a breathtaking ability to see the past. Also, she has been known to absorb the damage from mental attacks and redirect it toward a single rival and she has learned to create adamantium out of thin air. Summer has mastered the ability to make puppets appear from nowhere and she is able to jump to remote planets using an exceptional surfboard. Additionally, she has an amazing talent at knowing stuff, but this power only lasts two days at a time. Summer can change shape into a child, however doing so drains her immunity to magnetism for one day. Terribly, Summer suffers from being stupid.

Christina rides an exceptional horse into battle. She also wields a death-dealing boomerang that can force rivals to run home and cry to mama and she has mastered the ability to spin like a whirlwind. Christina has learned to create illusion out of thin air, but using this power makes her gigantic for one hour. Also, she possesses the power to absorb the damage from most physical attacks and redirect it against any assailant in sight and she has been known to take control of heat and bend it to her will. Christina brandishes a radioactive knife made from gold and she can transform any sloth into a machine. Lamentably, Christina becomes stupid in the presence of ice.

Christina wields a radioactive dagger made from sand. She possesses the power to squirt gravitic pulses from her forehead against any rival in sight and she has learned to cause her adversaries to become slimy. Christina has mastered the ability to change shape into a cat and she is able to absorb the damage from most physical attacks and use it to amplify her fortitude. She also developed the talent to transform physical matter into water. Shamefully, Christina is infamous for being powerless.

My weakness…what the fuck?

Silvia can transform any germ into an elf. Additionally, she is able to tunnel through solid kevlar and she is protected from damage by a fluid-like hide, however never in bright light. Silvia developed the talent to force seahorses to cower in fear and she attacks using a toxic pistol, but she must speak words of power to do so. Also, she wrangles with combatants with a destructive skateboard that also grants a spectacular swarm of useful gadgets and she possesses the power to steal the physical attributes of her opponents and use it against them, but never while concentrating. Silvia has been known to create sand out of thin air. Unfortunately, Silvia is handicapped by being afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome.

So…my weakness can be for my advantage?

Joccey has the power to deflect vibrations, however doing so makes her deaf for one hour. Additionally, she is able to make duplicates of herself and she has been known to transform her body into glass. Joccey developed the talent to transform any puppet into a fish, but she must speak words of power to do so. She rides a wondrous surfboard into battle, but this power only lasts ten minutes at a time. Joccey possesses the power to take control of aliens and she combats enemies with a razor-sharp rifle that can force adversaries to obey her every command. She also is protected from damage by alien technology, but never when well-rested. Sadly, Joccey takes harm from exposure to fire.

Why would I need to transform a puppet into a fish? 

Barbara developed the talent to cause her foes to become deaf. She likewise has a reputation for a bizarre agility and she boasts an unimaginable luck. Barbara has a legendary speed and she can skim the memories of others. Additionally, she has the power to transform her body into air and she possesses the power to transform corbomite into gold. Terribly, Barbara is deathly afraid of ghosts.

Daniel can rocket into the astral plane. Additionally, he possesses the power to read the memories of others and he has been known to block javelins and deflect them toward a distant area. Daniel rides an unbelievable horse into battle and he can tunnel through solid physical matter. He likewise developed the talent to transform any elk into a ninja, however doing so drains his breath-taking titanium refuge for five minutes. Daniel is known for his astounding leadership ability. Sadly, Daniel becomes blind in the presence of magic.

Not bad. 

Michael has learned to take control of gravity and bend it to his will. Additionally, he has a remarkable sense of smell and he brandishes an explosive knife, however using this power draws a lot of attention. Michael has the power to absorb the damage from most physical attacks and use it to amplify his pack of tools and he is able to sculpt and mold all rock with a thought. He can force dinosaurs to drop all possessions and he has been known to communicate with yaks from a distance, but using this power makes him tiny for one minute. Michael lords over a horde of chickens, but never during a full moon. Terribly, Michael is handicapped by being terrible at hiding.
